Different organizations present the lessons learned and challenges of the deinstitutionalization process at the IV Meeting of the VIDAS Platform

The last meeting of the year of the VIDAS Platform, held last Wednesday, November 29 at UC3M's Puerta de Toledo Campus, marked a turning point in the ongoing social innovation process. The day included the presentation ofresearch resultsand co-creations, as well as the remarkable findings of 20 pilot projects in deinstitutionalization.

Opening the event, Patricia Bezunartea, General Director of Family Diversity and Social Services of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, highlighted the progress and achievements of both the Platform and the State Strategy and Academic Study on Deinstitutionalization.

Javier González Abeytúa from the Tangente Cooperative Group presented the results of the research "The cultural framework of deinstitutionalization" and Pura Díaz Veiga from the Andalusian School of Public Health shared a virtual training program on personalization of care and support. Afterwards, representatives of the pilot projects made a series of presentations of the main evidence and findings found to date in their interventions. Maribel Ramos from HOGAR SÍ and Guadalupe Moreno from Provivienda presented the lessons learned from the Housing Rights and H4Y FUTURO projects.

The breaks between blocks offered the possibility of exploring products and tools developed during the process, such as the planning matrix and the database of findings of the Evaluation line; the map with the territorial deployment of the pilot projects, and the possibility of accessing the VIDAS Platform intranet.

Reflections on deinstitutionalization and future commitments.

Finally, after lunch, the Practice-Oriented Learning Communities interactively displayed the results of the different topics addressed throughout the year. A synthesis of dozens of work sessions that has been captured in summary documents and murals through the methodology of visual thinking.

The day culminated with an inspiring dialogue on "The story of deinstitutionalization in the information society", with the participation of María Sosa (journalist from El País), Zulema Ortiz (participant of Proyecto Rumbo), Sara Nogueria (Acoges+ foster mother) and Esther Punzano (client of Derechos a la Vivienda). They addressed the importance of telling the story of deinstitutionalization with clarity and authenticity, fighting stereotypes and stigmas.

To close the event, the newly appointed Secretary of State for Social Rights and Agenda 2030, Rosa Martínez, reaffirmed her commitment to the process, marking the beginning of a new stage for the next legislature.
