HOGAR SÍ and Provivienda, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Andalusia and the City Council of Seville, have carried out the transfer workshop "Homelessness policies in Andalusia: a new system of care and prevention of institutionalization". This event is part of the pilot projects "Housing Rights" and "H4Y FUTURE".
The innovation projects "Housing Rights" and "H4Y FUTURE", implemented since 2022 with the participation of 12 local and regional public administrations, are aligned with the I Strategy for the Care of Homeless People in Andalusia 2023-2026. This strategy aims to reduce the number of homeless people in the territory through a new system of care and prevention, and is financed by Next Generation funds through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030.
The transfer workshop held in Seville was attended by Antonio Ismael Huertas Mateo, General Director of Social Protection and Neighborhoods of Preferential Action of the Junta de Andalucía, who stressed the importance of "translating into a document the work of all the entities and also the commitment of the Junta de Andalucía", referring to the I Strategy for the Care of Homeless People in Andalusia 2023-2026.
Also speaking was José Luis García Martín, delegate of the Area of Neighborhoods of Preferential Attention and Social Rights and South District of the City Council of Seville, who stressed that "homelessness is a very important social problem and we all have to solve it, I am sure that we will achieve that goal with solutions such as those we are proposing here".
During the conference, the strategic framework of homelessness policies in Andalusia and the lines of progress in support services for these people were presented. In addition, the challenges and innovative responses of the system of care to homelessness in the autonomous community have been part of the dialogue with different public administrations of Andalusia, as well as the lessons learned from projects that can contribute to the implementation of the Strategy.
The main objective of this action has been to initiate in the Andalusian territory a process of transferring the models of accompaniment and the lessons learned from the projects to public policies, from the perspective of deinstitutionalization, autonomy and community life. This workshop is the second in a series of transfer actions to be carried out in the last year of project implementation, aimed at public administrations to share knowledge and incorporate piloted solutions to public policies at state and regional level.
From HOGAR SÍ and Provivienda, we are convinced that this space for dialogue will contribute significantly to the enrichment of homelessness policies in our community and to the improvement of the quality of life of homeless people in Andalusia.
