Cristina Mora, Councillor for Social Policy, Equality and Family of the City of Cartagena, along with members of his technical team, today visited one of the apartments of the project Housing Rights, promoted by Provivienda and HOGAR YES in collaboration with twelve public administrations, including the City of Cartagena. The councilor shared a coffee with José, Ernest and Paco, three of the twenty people that the project serves in Cartagena. Thanks to their generosity, she has been able to know first hand what it has meant for them to participate in the program, the progress they have made in recent months, and also the projects and challenges that lie ahead.
To date, thirteen of the twenty people assisted by the project in Cartagena have already designed an exit plan for the program. This shows an autonomous life project outside the homeless care system on the horizon. In addition, the project is facilitating processes that until now were almost unattainable, such as finding employment, undertaking training processes, connecting with the community or regularizing their administrative situation.
Sharing these moments with those who are the real protagonists of the projects shows us the true impact of our work and the importance of continuing to bet, in collaboration with administrations such as the City of Cartagena, for a real transformation of the system of care for homelessness. From the Board of Governors of the projects, we want to thank the councilor and her team for the time and interest they have put to know our initiative, as well as the entire project team for organizing the visit and, of course, José, Ernest and Paco for having opened the doors of their home.
Gonzalo Caro and Guadalupe Moreno, members of the Board of Governors of the Housing Rights and H4YFUTURO Innovation Projects.
