The Councilor for Social Welfare, Family and Health of Murcia visits people in the Housing Rights program.

Pilar Torres, Councilor for Social Policy, Equality and Family in the City of Murcia, has visited one of the homes of Housing Rights, a project of attention to homelessness promoted by Provivienda and HOGAR YES in collaboration with various administrations, including the City of Murcia. Accompanied by her team (the director of Social Services of the City of Murcia, Cristina García, and the head of the Prevention and Social Insertion section, María José Noguera), they had breakfast with Sanko and Moussa, two of the participants of the program in the city of Murcia.

Thanks to this invitation to their home, the councilwoman was able to learn about the life stories of these two people in an enriching encounter. This visit allowed not only to understand the progress and challenges of those who participate in the program, but also to glimpse the projects that await them.

Sanko and Moussa are two of the twenty people who are part of the project in the city of Murcia. They were able to share with the city council team what their autonomous living plans are, which marks a milestone towards independence outside the homelessness care system. This personalized approach involves the design of strategies that go beyond temporary assistance, covering aspects such as residential stability, job search, participation in training programs and active integration into the community. This individualized process not only focuses on the provision of housing, but also encourages participants to take an active role in building a sustainable and autonomous future, thus strengthening their ability to forge a full and meaningful life.

In this meeting, Sanko and Moussa have been able to share their future projection, the desire and strength to move forward in their processes with the support of the technical team along with the security space offered by a home.

These achievements not only demonstrate the tangible impact of these initiatives, but also the imperative need to continue working in partnership with entities such as the Municipality of Murcia to drive a real transformation in the homelessness system.

The Housing Rights team would like to thank Sanko and Moussa, who have given us the opportunity to enter their homes and share their experiences. Their participation in the project highlights the very essence of a person-centered approach. They are the true protagonists of this transformative initiative. Thanks also to the councilor and her team for their empathy and willingness to learn about this initiative that aims to ensure that no one lives on the street.
