Access to housing, a fundamental pillar

Increased access to housing

In an environment of trust and autonomy, people take responsibility for the home they live in: 93.5% of clients remain in the home after 7 months.

Social capital and community life

People feel part of the neighborhood, and of the people who live in it. Feeling part of the community is important, the connection with the environment and the neighborhood facilitates social participation.

Mental health

They have improved significantly since they have been in the program. The improvement in women's mental health is especially important: they were the group that started from a worse situation, and in only seven months they have improved in a very striking way.

Reduced use of services

The availability of housing and supports has had the primary consequence of reducing the use of specialized care network services.

With housing, life processes are reconstructed.

Leaving the institutionalized system has allowed the participants to be in a community environment that they value and to work on their life project based on self-determination and autonomy.

From a deinstitutionalizing point of view, supports are positive in aspects such as self-determination, development of future plans, personal confidence and control of their own lives.

15 people have left the program independently, representing 6% of the total.
40 more people are expected in the next quarter, a total of 22%.

Preventive approach has better results against homelessness

The chosen supportive housing is highly valued.

There is an improvement with housing satisfaction, which was also the result of an autonomous search process. In comparison, the control group worsens. On the other hand, the work plan developed with technical support, the prospect of future plans and the freedom of the participants have scores almost twice as high as those of the control group.

Improved employment prospects

The results show an improvement in the digital divide, which has a positive impact on employability and their perception of it. Proof of this is that in the call for transfers some people have demanded a PC as a job search or training improvement tool.

Autonomous outings

In early care 38 people have left autonomously and there are 65 people who are scheduled to leave this quarter, which represents 47.5%.

In self-directed support, 28 people have already left and 14 people are expected to leave this quarter, reaching 70% of the total.

There is a lack of mechanisms for the prevention and early detection of homelessness: the administrations have not identified profiles that have been homeless for less than 6 months and have not developed the mechanisms to carry out this identification.
