Housing Rights, a program developed by HOGAR SÍ and Provivienda, offers four services: digitalization, job search, housing search and direct transfers. However, as Elena, a housing technician, tells us, it is the people who decide whether or not to activate these services.
This project is based on the premise of people's autonomy, that is, the free choice to decide and develop their own life plan and make decisions to carry it out. One of the keys to achieving this autonomy is that the model is based on deinstitutionalization and a person-centered approach. In this way, the more welfarist model of care evolves into a personalized one in which the person chooses the support he or she needs.
Housing: key to achieving an autonomous life.
Autonomy-based accompaniment allows the clientele to take ownership of their life plan, giving them back the responsibility they have been deprived of during the years they have been in institutions. In this way, they take ownership of their goals and objectives and are more likely to achieve an autonomous life outside the homeless care system.
Housing is the first step towards autonomy, a decent home where they can regain their rights and develop a life project. "Without housing, there can be no autonomy," says Elena.
