The Community of Madrid and a broad representation from all over the territory, with the presence of at least 25 local administrations, participate in a space for dialogue on the challenges in addressing homelessness and the transfer of knowledge generated from the social innovation projects "Derechos a la vivienda" and "H4Y FUTURO", by Provivienda and HOGAR SÍ.
Since 2022, Provivienda and HOGAR SÍ have developed the social innovation projects Derechos a la vivienda and H4Y FUTURO with funding from Next Generation funds through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, in collaboration with 12 local and regional public administrations. Both projects seek to transform the current system of care for homelessness, aimed at promoting autonomy, increasing people's control and choice and guaranteeing their right to live independently in housing in the community.
Within this framework, in collaboration with the regional and local administrations of Madrid, Provivienda and HOGAR SÍ have carried out the transfer workshop "Innovation in homelessness care in the Community of Madrid". With this action, both organizations of the Third Sector aim to transfer learning and dialogue with other municipalities in the region on the implementation of innovative responses that are being given in the systems of care for homelessness.
The institutional welcome was attended by Ignacio Ayres, Director General of Social Services and Integration of the Community of Madrid; and Rosalía Escuder Cornella, Deputy Director General of Primary Social Care and Social Emergency of the Community of Madrid. In addition, during the session, the different lines of accompaniment, the main results and the lessons learned for the homelessness care systems of the "Housing Rights" and "H4Y FUTURO" projects were presented.
The workshop allowed the creation of a space for dialogue in groups on the main challenges detected in the homelessness care system, innovative responses and lessons learned in the Community of Madrid. The workshop also ended with a training session given by the technical team of the social innovation projects, aimed at the social services staff of the municipalities of the Community on the way out of homelessness towards autonomy and community life.
Provivienda and HOGAR SÍ believe that meetings such as this one add value to public policies on homelessness and to the improvement of the quality of life of homeless people in the Community of Madrid.
