On Wednesday, July 17, the Photovoice exhibit, an exhibition of 24 photographs accompanied by audio narrations by participants in the Housing Rights program, opens to the public.
Antonio, Domenico, Gilberto, Hafid, Jane, Santiago and Yanali, authors of the exhibition, joined this program promoted by Provivienda and HOGAR SÍ because they were homeless. As part of their process of recovery of autonomy, they have participated in the series of workshops that give origin and name to this exhibition, which can be seen from July 17 to August 9 at the Impact Hub Barcelona .
If you are interested in attending the opening of the Photovoice Exhibition on July 17 at 17:00 hours, complete your registration here (tickets available until full capacity is reached).

Through the "Photovoice" methodology, using a camera as the main tool, each participant has been able to explore his or her perspective of individual, community and political growth and then show a part of it to the world. Each photo is exhibited accompanied by a narration, in audio guide format , directed and recorded by its protagonists. To listen you only need a cell phone that allows you to scan QRs.
The result is a selection of the material produced in the six Photovoice workshop sessions, in which five specific themes were worked on: home, personal identity, personal and social economy, public institutions and services, and social capital. This experience has helped participants to make their realities visible and raise awareness, break down stigmas about homeless people, encourage community support and promote the inclusion of homeless people in any social sphere.
In summary, the specific objectives of this project have been:
- To document the reality and changes experienced by some of the participants of Housing Rights in Barcelona.
- To promote community social change in individuals, in the community and in public administrations.
- Promote reflection and critical dialogue within and outside the group.
- Accompany the group to strengthen community ties.
The sample is an example of the type of accompaniment developed in the Housing Rights and H4Y FUTURE programs, based on the Housing First model and the person-centered approach as a solution to the structural problem. The results are demonstrating that homelessness is solved by putting at the center the autonomy of the homeless person and the rights approach, with housing as an essential part of the solution,
This project, like all the actions under the Housing Rights and H4Y FUTURE programs, has been made possible thanks to funding from the Next Generation European Funds through the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 .
